October 2014

Dr. Melanie Berry (University of Oregon and Oregon Social Learning Center) discusses how to bridge the gap between core story science and the development of innovative interventions for kids and families. Dr. Berry discusses the theory of change, the process of translating research into practice, and the characteristics of scalable intervention models. She also stresses the need for researchers to have a theory of change that drives their work, including specific skills and behaviours that are the intervention targets; underlying processes or capacities that are measurable; and specific outcomes for parent, child, and dad in mind.
