Dr. David Gustafson, Director of the Center for Health Enhancement Systems Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, proposes a number of ways in which addiction treatment providers and institutions can use innovation to achieve process improvement. Dr. Gustafson emphasizes keeping process improvement short and simple, by identifying and monitoring a small number of measures. Such measures include making adjustments to time to treatment, assessment no-shows, admissions, and continuation of care.
