Social Policy
December 2011
In this presentation, Dr. Philip Davies from Oxford Evidentia will focus on how to bring about organizational change by using the best available evidence from research and evaluation. The presentation will suggest that organizations need to have an explicit knowledge management strategy that utilizes existing sources of high quality, critically appraised research evidence, as well as using their own organizational knowledge and expertise. An important feature of knowledge management is identifying, and using, the balance of evidence from a wide range of high quality sources. The presentation will review what we know about effective ways of doing this, and what the barriers are to successful research utilization. It will also examine the demand for sound evidence from policy makers and practitioners, as well as some critical features of the supply of evidence from the research community.
